Most U.S. households will spend similar or less on winter energy, but northern states may see gas bills rise.

The Energy Information Administration predicts most US households will spend the same or less on energy this winter compared to last year. However, colder weather in northern states and the Midwest may lead to higher heating bills, especially in Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Illinois, and Kansas, with an expected $10 to $15 increase in natural gas costs per month. Electricity prices are set to rise by about 2%, while heating oil and propane prices are expected to remain steady or decrease.
