Eighteen-year-old Dariel Vasquez died while fighting a wildfire in New York; flags to fly at half-staff.

Eighteen-year-old Dariel Vasquez, a state parks worker and high school senior, died while fighting the Jennings Creek wildfire in Greenwood Lake, New York. Flags will fly at half-staff in his honor, as ordered by Governor Kathy Hochul. The fire, which has burned over 5,200 acres, was still active but 80% contained. Vasquez was also a baseball team captain and worked at a local grocery store.
