Australian councils present five costly options to address Lake Illawarra erosion, seek public feedback.

Wollongong City Council and Shellharbour City Council have presented five options to combat erosion at Lake Illawarra, stemming from the 2007 opening of its entrance. Proposed solutions include removing training walls, building rock barriers, and constructing weirs with adjustable gates. The most costly option is priced between $145-240 million. The councils seek public feedback until December 20 and plan to pursue state and federal funding for the chosen solution.
