A new semiconductor plant in Morigaon, Assam, led by Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test Pvt Ltd, is set to produce up to 48 million chips daily by mid-2025. This $3.4 billion facility will use advanced packaging technologies and support sectors like automotive and telecommunications. It will create 26,000 jobs and boost India's semiconductor market, projected to grow from $38 billion in 2023 to $109 billion by 2030. The Indian government is backing the project with initiatives like the India Semiconductor Mission to reduce import reliance.
