NPP withdraws support from BJP-led Manipur government over failure to curb ethnic violence.

The National People's Party (NPP) has withdrawn support from the BJP-led government in Manipur, citing the government's failure to address the ongoing violence and restore normalcy. The NPP has seven MLAs in the 60-member assembly, but the BJP maintains a majority with the support of other parties. Ethnic clashes between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities have caused over 200 deaths and widespread displacement since May. The Union Home Minister has directed security officials to take steps to restore peace.
