Egypt's El Nasr restarts car production after 15 years, plans electric vehicles for 2025.

Egypt's state-run automaker El Nasr has resumed production after a 15-year pause, aiming to boost local industry, save foreign currency, and create jobs. The company plans to start making electric vehicles in May 2025 and has been supported by the government as a strategic move to enhance industrial localization and private-sector partnerships. Established in 1960, El Nasr previously produced Fiat cars and the "Shahin" budget car before facing decline and near liquidation in 2009.
