Coal India plans to relocate 30,000 families in India to access 600 million tonnes of coal.

Coal India's subsidiary, Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), plans a large-scale resettlement project to relocate 30,000 families from Morwa township in Madhya Pradesh due to 600 million tonnes of mineable coal beneath it. The project, costing over ₹20,000 crore, involves moving 22,000 houses and structures. NCL also aims to increase the Jayant coal mine's capacity to 35 million tonnes per annum by 2026-27.
