Three bear cubs were left orphaned after their mother was hit and killed by a vehicle.

Three cubs were orphaned after their mother was killed in a vehicle collision on West Sooke Road on November 14. The incident highlights how bears are drawn to neighborhoods by unsecured attractants like garbage. Since October 1, there have been multiple bear sightings in nearby towns. To prevent such conflicts, Wild Wise advises removing bird feeders, cleaning outdoor areas of food, and storing garbage in sealed containers. The public is urged to report cub sightings to the BC Conservation Officer Service at 1-877-952-7277.
