New Orleans treats areas for West Nile virus after detection in local mosquitoes.

West Nile virus has been detected in mosquitoes in New Orleans, according to the New Orleans Mosquito, Termite and Rodent Control Board. In response, the board will conduct mosquito control treatments from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in areas like Black Pearl and Audubon, Lakeview, Plum Orchard, and Read Boulevard West. Residents are advised to use insect repellent and remove standing water to prevent bites.
