Malaysia plans new bill requiring house arrest users to wear tracking devices to ease prison crowding.

The Malaysian Home Minister announced plans for a new House Arrest Bill, which would require those under house arrest to wear location-tracking devices. The aim is to improve monitoring and help alleviate prison overcrowding, with around 28,000 inmates potentially released under house arrest. The bill, approved in principle by the Cabinet, excludes serious offenders like those involved in rape or drug crimes.
