Indian Supreme Court orders review of menstrual hygiene in schools before new policies.

The Supreme Court of India has asked the government to review the current state of menstrual hygiene in schools before implementing any policies. This follows a petition by social activist Jaya Thakur, who requested free sanitary pads for girls in grades 6 to 12, separate girl's toilets, and a three-stage awareness program on menstrual health. The court wants to ensure the National Policy for Menstrual Hygiene is effectively implemented, with the next hearing set for December 3.
