A freight train derailed in Hokkaido, Japan, near Hakodate on Saturday, causing disruptions to both passenger and commercial railway services. Five of the train's 20 freight cars derailed, though the driver was uninjured. Local and express train services between Hakodate and Sapporo were suspended following the incident. The train had departed from Nagoya, heading to Sapporo.
