Chris Ryan narrowly won New York's 50th District Senate race, keeping Democrats in majority.

Democrat Chris Ryan narrowly won the New York State Senate race for the 50th District, defeating Republican Nick Paro with 81,560 votes to Paro's 80,138. Ryan, a former Democratic floor leader, will represent parts of Onondaga and Oswego counties, succeeding John Mannion who ran for Congress. The win keeps Democrats in the majority in the state Senate. Ryan plans to focus on job creation, education, healthcare, and economic investments.
