Baltimore workers' families demand safer conditions after two DPW employees died on the job.

Family members and community leaders of Baltimore's Department of Public Works (DPW) workers have gathered at City Hall demanding safer working conditions after two workers, Timothy Cartwell and Ronald Silver II, died on the job. Cartwell was pinned by a garbage truck on November 8th, while Silver died from a heat-related illness in August. The group is seeking improvements in safety training and working conditions, with Maryland's Occupational Safety and Health program now investigating both the deaths and the overall DPW work environment.
