Australian homelessness services overwhelmed by crises, turning away thousands at risk.

Australia's housing and cost-of-living crises are overwhelming homelessness services, leading to people being turned away and calls unanswered. A recent report by Homelessness Australia and Impact Economics found that services closed for 200 hours and had 325 hours of unanswered calls over two weeks. The report estimates that between 2.7 million and 3.2 million Australians are at risk of homelessness, a 63% increase since 2016. The authors call for increased government support for frontline services to address the crisis.
