Alana Moor, formerly incarcerated, won $1,500 and 2nd place at Speaker Slam for her speech on overcoming fear.

Alana Moor, a Gleneagle Secondary graduate from Coquitlam, won second place and $1,500 at Speaker Slam's Inspirational Speaking Finals in Toronto on Nov. 9, 2024. Her speech, "Walking Through Fear," focused on her experience of surviving a violent attack while serving an 81-month sentence in Panama for drug smuggling. Post-release, Moor founded a nonprofit aiding incarcerated women in Central America and runs a life coaching business. Speaker Slam co-founder Dan Shaikh praised her journey as "one of true redemption and resilience."
