Woburn restaurant owners plead guilty to smuggling Brazilian migrants, facing up to 10 years in prison.

Two Woburn restaurant owners, Jesse James Moraes and his son Hugo Giovanni Moraes, have pleaded guilty to smuggling Brazilian migrants into the U.S. They charged $12,000 to $22,000 per person, encouraged false asylum claims, and assisted with housing and jobs at their restaurants. Jesse Moraes also admitted to money laundering. Both face up to 10 years in prison for smuggling, with Jesse potentially facing an additional 20 years.
