The University of Rochester Medical Center has resumed its full surgery schedule after a month-long pause due to an IV fluid shortage caused by Hurricane Helene damaging a major manufacturing plant in North Carolina. The hospital restored operations by conserving supplies, using alternatives, and receiving shipments from other suppliers. Elective and semi-elective surgeries are now proceeding. Financial impacts are not yet known.
