Twenty-four coastal villages in Odisha, India, have been recognized as "Tsunami Ready" by the United Nations' Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission. This recognition follows the implementation of the Tsunami Ready Recognition Programme, which includes training, awareness programs, and evacuation drills. Odisha has 381 tsunami-prone coastal villages, and the state aims to make all of them "tsunami-ready" gradually.
