TransAlta Corp. has agreed to sell Heartland Generation's Poplar Hill and Rainbow Lake power stations to address Competition Bureau concerns over a potential monopoly in Alberta and B.C. This led to an $80 million reduction in the acquisition price, now set at $542 million, including debt. The deal must still be approved by the Commissioner of Competition.
