Rio Tinto invests $16M in Madagascar forest project to protect lemurs and reduce deforestation.

Rio Tinto has invested $16 million in Madagascar's Makira Natural Park REDD+ project, covering 372,000 hectares of forest home to 17 lemur species. In partnership with WCS and Everland, the project aims to protect biodiversity, support sustainable practices among local communities, and reduce deforestation. Rio Tinto's commitment includes purchasing carbon credits, part of their efforts to invest in nature-based solutions.
