Oil firms commit $500M to expand sustainable energy access in Africa, Asia at COP29.

Oil giants TotalEnergies, BP, Shell, and Equinor have committed $500 million to increase access to sustainable energy in sub-Saharan Africa, South, and Southeast Asia. The investment, announced at the COP29 climate summit, targets projects like solar systems, micro-grids, clean cooking fuels, and e-mobility technologies. This aims to help over 2.3 billion people who still rely on traditional, unhealthy cooking methods.
