Montreal's REM light-speed rail launch delayed to fall 2025 due to tunnel work complexities.

The Montreal light-speed rail network's Deux-Montagnes and Anse-à-l'Orme branches, part of the Réseau express métropolitain (REM), will now launch in fall 2025, delayed from its initial 2023 target. The project has faced additional costs, totaling $8.34 billion, due to complexities in the Mont-Royal tunnel work. Despite the delays and cost overruns, the per-kilometre cost remains below comparable North American projects.
