Medical King has recalled about 222,000 adult portable bed rails due to risks of entrapment and asphyxiation, following one reported death in a South Carolina care facility. The recall affects three models sold online from January 2020 to March 2024. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission urges owners to stop using the affected bed rails immediately and contact Medical King for a free repair kit or replacement. This is part of nine recalls since 2021, linked to 18 deaths.
