Manitoba funds new police officers and mental health workers to fight retail theft and improve policing.

The Manitoba government will permanently fund a program to combat retail theft in Winnipeg, adding 12 new police officers and increasing municipal policing funding by two percent. $1.1 million was previously allocated for police overtime in retail hot spots. The government also plans to strengthen impaired driving laws and hire 100 mental health workers to assist first responders.
