Illinois advocates push for $60M increase to address early childhood intervention shortages and long wait times.

Early childhood advocates in Illinois are urging the state to add $60 million to fund early intervention services for children with developmental delays and disabilities. The Raising Illinois coalition, which held rallies in nine cities, highlights the issue of staffing shortages and long wait times for services. Since 2019, around 500 providers have left the profession annually. The current fiscal year budget includes $162 million for these services, a $6 million increase from last year.
