Cruise, an autonomous vehicle company owned by General Motors, has agreed to pay a $500,000 fine for submitting a false report to the NHTSA following a 2022 crash in San Francisco where one of its vehicles dragged a pedestrian for over 20 feet. Cruise admitted to omitting key details from the accident report and will cooperate with investigations, implement a safety compliance program, and provide annual reports to the U.S. Attorney's Office for three years. The company suspended its operations in the U.S. after the crash.
