Sudan extends border crossing to aid 16.9 million in Darfur famine, as crisis escalates.

Sudan's military-controlled government has extended the opening of the Adre border crossing with Chad for three more months to help deliver humanitarian aid to the Darfur region, where famine has been confirmed. This decision follows a significant increase in the number of people needing aid, from 15.8 million in April to 28.9 million in October, with 16.9 million requiring life-saving assistance. Over 300 aid trucks have already crossed through Adre, helping over 1.3 million people. Aid groups urge increased funding to address the crisis affecting millions.
