Singaporean manager jailed for demanding $400K in kickbacks from migrant workers over 6 years.

A Singaporean operations manager, Derrick Ho, was sentenced to 24 weeks in jail for demanding nearly S$400,000 in kickbacks from 57 migrant workers between 2014 and 2020. Ho collected money ranging from S$1,500 to S$15,500 for work permit renewals, in what the Ministry of Manpower called one of the largest cases of its kind. The ministry emphasized it will continue to take strong action against such practices.
