Ovintiv buys Canadian oil assets for $2.38 billion, selling Utah assets to fund the deal.

Ovintiv, an energy firm, is acquiring oil assets from Paramount Resources in Canada's Montney shale region for $2.38 billion in cash. This deal is expected to boost Ovintiv’s production by about 70,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day and enhance its adjusted free cash flow by around $300 million in 2025. To fund the acquisition, Ovintiv will sell its Uinta Basin assets in Utah to FourPoint Resources for $2 billion. Both transactions are expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2025 and are anticipated to be immediately beneficial for Ovintiv.
