Nowra's iconic Navy Iroquois helicopter landmark removed due to poor condition; replacement planned.
The iconic "helicopter on a stick" in Nowra, Australia, a Navy Iroquois helicopter representing the town's naval history, has been removed for maintenance and will not return due to its poor condition. Defence Minister Richard Marles announced that a replacement helicopter will be installed soon to preserve the town's connection to military aviation. The original Iroquois, which served with the Navy's 723 Squadron, has been a local landmark for 25 years.
