Michigan court dismisses lawsuit against police in 2020 death of intoxicated arrestee Priscilla Slater.

The Michigan Court of Appeals dismissed a lawsuit against Harper Woods police, ruling there wasn't enough evidence to prove gross negligence in the 2020 death of Priscilla Slater, who died in a lockup 36 hours after her arrest. Slater had consumed excessive alcohol prior to her arrest. The court noted the outcome might have been different if Slater had explicitly requested medical help or showed signs of distress. No charges were filed against the police in 2021.
