Johannesburg's planetarium reopens as the world's largest digital dome, offering free access to underprivileged students.

The Johannesburg Planetarium has been transformed into the Wits Anglo American Digital Dome, the largest of its kind in the southern hemisphere, after a R90 million renovation. Offering a 360° immersive experience with 10 digital projectors and an 8.2 audio system, the dome will enter a pilot phase from November to January 2025, opening to the public in February. The project also includes plans for locally developed content and free access for learners from lower-income schools.
