The British Museum receives a £1 billion donation of 1,700 Chinese ceramics, its largest-ever gift.

The British Museum will receive a £1 billion donation of 1,700 Chinese ceramics from the Sir Percival David Foundation, marking the highest-value gift to a UK museum. The collection, including rare pieces like the "David vases" from 1351 and a "chicken cup" used by the Chenghua emperor, will expand the museum’s Chinese ceramics collection to 10,000 pieces, making it one of the world’s most significant outside China. The donation is subject to Charity Commission approval.
