Vermont man accused of shooting three Palestinian students deemed competent to stand trial.

Jason Eaton, a Vermont man accused of shooting three Palestinian college students in Burlington last November, has been declared competent to stand trial. Eaton pleaded not guilty to three counts of attempted murder. Despite his absence from a recent court appearance, the judge decided Eaton is fit for legal proceedings. The victims, including one who was partially paralyzed, have recovered. If convicted, Eaton faces up to life in prison. The state prosecutor did not add a hate crime charge due to insufficient evidence.
