Norway's Kon-Tiki Museum returns Easter Island artifacts and human remains to Chile, completing a repatriation.
The Kon-Tiki Museum in Norway has returned artifacts and human remains taken by explorer Thor Heyerdahl in the late 1940s to Easter Island, Chile. This is the third repatriation of items taken by Heyerdahl, following a 2019 agreement delayed by the pandemic. The returned items include human remains and sculpted stones, marking a significant return of cultural artifacts to the Rapa Nui people.
