Missouri utilities urge customers to check for lead in home water lines, offering incentives.

Missouri utilities are asking customers to check if their home water lines contain lead. Both Columbia Water & Light and Springfield City Utilities have completed checks of their own lines and found no lead, but customer-owned lines may still contain lead and need to be replaced by 2037. The utilities are offering $20 gift cards to the first 2,500 customers who report their water line material. Homes built after January 4, 2014, are presumed not to have lead lines.
