Meghalaya's Power Minister requests central government funds to cover costs of smart meters.

Meghalaya's Power Minister, Abu Taher Mondal, has asked the central government for more funds to cover the higher costs of installing smart electric meters, requesting an increased subsidy to prevent additional costs from being passed to consumers. This request was made during a conference in New Delhi, where state power ministers discussed issues like consumer rights and renewable energy projects. Mondal also sought benefits for the state’s pumped storage projects and asked for resumed financial assistance for small hydro projects.
