Indigenous authors Niigaan Sinclair and Jordan Abel win Canada's top literary awards for their works.

Niigaan Sinclair and Jordan Abel have won the Governor General's Literary Awards in non-fiction and fiction categories, respectively. Sinclair’s "Wînipêk: Visions of Canada from an Indigenous Centre" explores Indigenous perspectives on Canada, while Abel’s "Empty Spaces" looks at Indigenous relationships with lands and displacement. The Canada Council for the Arts awarded $25,000 to each winner, with $1,000 for finalists and $3,000 for publishers to promote the winning books.
