India's parliamentary committee to debate raising minimum marriage age for women to 21.

A Parliamentary Standing Committee in India will discuss the minimum marriage age for men and women next week, revisiting a bill that aimed to set a uniform age but lapsed with the 17th Lok Sabha’s dissolution. The committee, led by Congress MP Digvijaya Singh, will hear from the Women and Child Development Ministry and advocacy groups on proposed changes, including raising the minimum age for females to 21. They will also assess the impact of the New Education Policy on school education.
