Chinese EV giant BYD plans to enter South Korea's passenger car market early next year, aiming to boost competition in the low-cost segment. BYD Korea will handle marketing and sales, establishing sales networks, recruiting staff, and obtaining certifications. The company, which first entered South Korea's commercial vehicle market in 2016, aims to challenge local leaders Hyundai and Kia.
