Singapore considers central kitchen model for school meals to tackle canteen staff shortage.

The Singapore Ministry of Education is considering a central kitchen model to prepare and deliver school meals, addressing a shortage of canteen stallholders as many retire. This model was successfully tested at Yusof Ishak Secondary School. The ministry will support affected stallholders by referring them to other schools or central kitchen roles. Schools will continue to monitor food quality and ensure affordability for students from lower-income families.
