Researchers pinpoint Battle of al-Qadisiyyah site using satellite images and texts.

Researchers from Durham University and the University of al-Qadisiyah have identified the site of the 636 AD Battle of al-Qadisiyyah, a pivotal victory for Arab Muslims, using declassified US spy satellite images and historical texts. The battle's location, previously unknown, was found 30 kilometers south of Kufa, in what is now farmland. The team plans to conduct further archaeological surveys, though these are currently on hold due to regional tensions.
