Northern Ireland sees drop in employment rate, rise in economic inactivity, despite pay increase.

Northern Ireland's employment rate fell by 1.2 percentage points to 70.3%, while the economic inactivity rate rose to 28.2%. Despite a 7% increase in average monthly pay to £2,258, the number of PAYE jobs slightly decreased to 805,325. The unemployment rate remained at 2%, but the number of people on jobless benefits rose by 1% to 42,200, partly due to changes in Universal Credit.
