Nigerian university union blames World Bank, IMF for harming public education through payroll policies.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in Nigeria claims that the World Bank and IMF are behind policies harming public education, particularly through the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS). ASUU President Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke criticized delays in renegotiating a 2009 agreement and the withholding of salaries. The union plans to offer Ph.D. grants to its members to support academic pursuits.
