Starting November 21, New Zealand police will enforce new laws prohibiting the display of gang insignia in public. Operation Nickel, led by Assistant Commissioner Paul Basham, aims to reduce gang activities and public intimidation. Police will use a new Gang Disruption Unit to gather evidence of breaches and can issue orders preventing gang members from associating for up to three years.
