New Zealand educators visit Samoan villages to boost cultural understanding and improve educational outcomes for Pacific students.

Since 2003, the University of Canterbury has run a program for New Zealand educators to spend a week in a Samoan village to better understand Pacific culture. Over 300 teachers have participated, attending cultural events to gain insights. Researchers are now studying the program's impact on both educators and students, aiming to improve educational outcomes for Pacific students through cultural awareness. The initiative has also benefited Samoan schools with equipment and professional development for teachers.
