Jamaican health survey reveals rising alcohol and cannabis use, especially among young adults.

A recent Ministry of Health survey in Jamaica indicates increased alcohol and cannabis use, particularly among younger age groups. Alcohol use is highest among 25-35 year-olds, while cannabis use peaks among 18-25 year-olds. The study shows higher alcohol use in Trelawny, St Ann, and Kingston compared to the national rate of 46.2%. It also reveals that 18% of drivers admitted to driving under the influence, with males more likely to do so than females. The findings will guide new health policies and programs to address these issues.
