Heidelberg Materials' GeZero project in Germany is advancing into detailed technical planning, aiming to capture 700,000 tons of CO2 annually starting 2029. Funded by the EU Innovation Fund, the project uses oxyfuel technology for CO2 capture and plans to transport CO2 via rail until pipelines are available. The facility will be powered by renewable energy, with construction set to begin in 2026.
