Gary Lineker, former England football star and current host of BBC's Match of the Day, is set to retire after 25 years in the role. Known for his goal-scoring record in the World Cup, Lineker played for Leicester City, Everton, Barcelona, and Tottenham Hotspur. After retiring in 1994, he became a BBC pundit and took over Match of the Day in 1999. He will leave BBC Sport after the 2026 World Cup.
